Reflections from the Quran

Sunday, 3rd April 2022 – It is our pleasure to organize the very first Reflections from the Quran session led by Sheikh Shafie, a representative from New Zealand. Sh. Shafie shared with us the beautiful meaning from the first chapter of the Quran, Surah Al-Fatihah which translated as the Opening Chapter.

Around 50 people from different Asia Pacific countries have joined together with us to listen to the recitation of the Quran and the reflections from the Surah through the online platform Zoom. Sh. Shafie started by reminding us how Al-Fatihah has become a part of our daily recitation especially during our solah (prayer). We read the surah 17 times a day in our solah which makes the whole surah very significant in our lives.

Surah Al-Fatihah is about du’a (supplication) which can be broken down into four themes. The first four ayahs introducing us to Allah’s Beauty and Greatness. The fifth ayah is about surrendering ourselves before Allah by not asking other than Allah for His Mercy and Forgiveness. The last two ayahs are for us to ask for His Guidance to the right path.

The sharing session took about one hour before we ended it with a couple of questions and answers. The whole audience were supportive and being participative and were looking forward for the next session.
