Regional Da’wah Conference 11

Across Oceans, One Ummah Sometimes, the most powerful stories aren’t written in books, but in the hearts of those who live for a purpose greater than themselves. From 26 to 28 September 2025, something extraordinary unfolded in the heart of the Maldives. The Regional Da’wah Conference 11 (Zon 1), organised by MyGuide Malaysia with the support of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Maldives, brought together 63 delegates from eight nations, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Bhutan. They came from mountains, coasts, and crowded cities, all answering one call: to revive da’wah with love, courage, and unity. When H.E. Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs, officiated the event, his words echoed with truth: “Da’wah is not the duty of a few, it is the trust of us all.” From that moment, the air in the hall changed. The Qur’an recitations felt heavier with meaning, and every discussion carried the weight of something eternal. Over three days, RDC11-Z1 became more than a conference it became a reunion of souls. There were forums on empowering women in da’wah, mobilising youth, and strengthening governance through faith. Delegates exchanged not only strategies, but stories, laughter, and du’a. During one session, a young delegate from Afghanistan said softly, “When we speak of da’wah, we are not only inviting others, we are reminding our own hearts who we truly are.” The room fell silent. It was one of those moments that needed no applause, only reflection. Everyone felt it: the shared tenderness of faith, the quiet courage to keep going. In every corner of the Islamic Centre, you could see unity come alive, hands raised in prayer, heads bowed together, and hearts learning from one another. By the final day, when resolutions were read, to unite du’at across nations, to embrace digital tools for da’wah, to nurture the next generation there was a quiet certainty: this was not the end. It was the beginning of something far greater. As the adzan for Zuhur filled the hall, the delegates stood shoulder to shoulder, tears glimmering in tired eyes. Somewhere between the ocean breeze and the final salam, a promise was made, to carry the message forward, no matter how far apart they were. RDC11-Z1 was never just an event. It was a heartbeat. A reminder that when the ummah comes together across oceans, languages, and struggles even the smallest island can feel like the centre of the world.   MyGuide Malaysia is humbled to have witnessed this unity of hearts, a tapestry of faith woven across nations. May the spirit of RDC11-Z1 continue to inspire da’wah movements across the globe, bringing light to every corner that needs it most. Because da’wah is not a duty, it’s a love story between the believer and the world.

The Japan-Malaysia Baitul Mal, Waqf & Zakat Conference

TOKYO, JAPAN – In a landmark event that bridged cultures, the hall of the International Islamia School Otsuka in Tokyo became the epicenter of a transformative dialogue on Waqf & Islamic Economics from October 18th to 19th, 2025.The Japan-Malaysia Baitul Mal, Waqf & Zakat Conference, co-organised by MyGuide Malaysia, the Japan Islamic Alliance, and IMAN Japan, successfully convened a diverse group of NGO leaders with a single, powerful mission: to build a sustainable future for da’wah in Japan. The conference was officially inaugurated by Hj Nicholas Sylvester, Chairman of MyGuide Malaysia, who set a tone of hope and collaboration. In his opening speech, he emphasized the universal values of compassion and community empowerment at the heart of Zakat and Waqf, urging for a cross-cultural application of these timeless principles. The intimate gathering of 40 participants, primarily comprising dedicated members of Japanese Islamic NGOs including Kyoichiro Sugimoto (CICC) and Haroon Qureshi (JIT). It was further graced by the presence of two delegates from the Philippines, Congressman Yusop T Alano and Chief Political Affairs Officer Mrs. Dayang Mirhama A. Jaljalis from Batasan Hills, Philippines. Day 1: A Masterclass in Waqf and EducationThe first day was a deep dive into the mechanics and miracles of successful Waqf models. Participants were treated to an intellectual feast, with insights from some of Southeast Asia’s renowned figures on waqf:• Prof. Dr. Hamid Fahmy Zarkasyi, Rector of UNIDA Gontor, Indonesia, illuminated the path with his presentation on Gontor as a Living Waqf example, showcasing how a visionary educational institution can be built and sustained for generations through the power of community trust and endowment.• Dr. Irfan Syauqi Beik from IPB University, Indonesia, provided a robust economic framework, detailing how modern Waqf management can fuel sustainable development and social welfare programs.• Pn Hjh Norpisah Mat Isa from Al Bukhary International University, Malaysia, shared inspiring case studies on corporate Waqf and its pivotal role in funding higher education, offering a blueprint for long-term Da’wah sustainability. While the technical and institutional models from Malaysia and Indonesia were incredibly valuable, the biggest takeaway that resonated was the critical need to return to the Islamic fundamentals of Waqf to truly meet the needs of the Ummah. Day 2: From Ideas to Action in the Land of the Rising SunBuilding on the momentum of Day 1, the conference shifted from theory to practice. The second day was dedicated to an intensive workshop, where ideas crystallised into tangible strategies. Facilitated by the co-organizing bodies, participants rolled up their sleeves to develop a concrete action plan for initiating a pilot Waqf institution in Japan. This conference was not just a meeting; it was the sowing of a seed. A seed of sustainable Da’wah, nurtured by the principles of Waqf and Zakat, planted firmly in the fertile soil of Japan. In our enthusiasm to establish a system in Japan, we must anchor it in the core principles of sincerity, Islamic brotherhood and perpetual benefit. When we focus on these fundamentals—the spiritual and social DNA of Waqf—the financial and structural success will follow, insha’Allah. This was the true gem of the conference: remembering that the most sustainable infrastructure for Dawah is one built on the bedrock of genuine, faith-driven compassion. The action plan for Japan must have this principle at its very heart. The journey has just begun, and the future looks bright.

Celebrating Raya

Raya away from home, but not without love 💚✨ This Aidilfitri, Nasirah, Jamilah, and Hamidah, three Vietnamese students from Maahad Al Manar, were wrapped in the warmth of a new family in Melor, Kelantan 🇲🇾. Far from Vietnam 🇻🇳, yet so close to the feeling of home, thanks to the beautiful hospitality of Haji Wan’s family. The air was filled with the smell of rendang, the sounds of takbir, and the kind of laughter that bridges hearts. Dressed in matching kebarung, they shared stories, smiles, and sambal and for a moment, borders didn’t matter. Just love, belonging, and the true spirit of Raya 🕌

Kemboja Outreach

Cakna Kemboja On July 26, 2024, Dr. Safwan Saparudin, one of our Asia Pacific Country Coordinators (APCC), embarked on a da’wah trip to Cambodia under the initiative “Cakna Kemboja.” The main goal of the trip was to engage with local duat to establish connections and understand the dynamics of da’wah in the region. From the engagements Dr Safwan learnt about the methods used by local duat and Islamic organisations to convey the message of Islam and gained insights into the da’wah practices prevalent in Cambodia. Alhamdulillah, Dr. Safwan and the local duat were able to have a good session on sharing of experiences and reached a  mutual understanding on establishing a collaborative partnership to achieve their shared goal of spreading the message of Islam. The mission began in Kampot, Cambodia, where Dr. Safwan Saparudin visited Steng Kav village as part of the Kafilah Dakwah project, organised by the Light of Knowledge & Charity Organization (LKCO). During this visit, young duat  from LKCO shared the message of Islam with the village community, many of whom were new to the faith. The session provided attendees with insights into fundamental Islamic topics, such as the purpose of life and humanity’s destiny. It also offered them the opportunity to ask questions that had been on their minds and seek answers about Islam. Alhamdulillah, by Allah’s will, a woman embraced Islam and returned to her natural faith. Before leaving Kampot, Dr. Safwan also visited Prey Thnang village. There, over 60 new reverts received prayer garments (telekung) sponsored by MyGuide Malaysia and our generous donors. The recipients were very happy to receive the gifts and expressed their joy and heartfelt gratitude. The growth of Islamic da’wah in Prey Thnang is promising, but there remains a significant need for financial support. This includes funding for religious teachers, a community centre, and ongoing assistance for both new reverts and the underprivileged. Over 200 families in the village continue to require guidance and support to embrace Islam fully and thrive in their new faith. Join us in supporting this noble da’wah effort. Contribute to the mualaf fund and be part of this impactful mission. #MyGuide #EmpoweringMualaf #RahmatanLilAlamin
