Breaking Barriers: MyGuide Malaysia and Nasyrul Quran’s Mission to Expand Quranic Access On the morning of 28th November 2024, a meaningful conversation unfolded at Nasyrul Quran, where MyGuide Malaysia representatives, Zainal Abidin Abdullah and Dr. Safwan sat down with Ustaz Muhammad Fadli Ismail, the General Manager of Nasyrul Quran. The air was filled with a shared sense of purpose, the mission to make the Quran accessible to more communities worldwide.   For years, language barriers have stood between millions of people and their connection to the Quran. But that is changing.   During the discussion, three key milestones were highlighted each marking a step toward making the Quran available to those who have never had the opportunity to read it in their native language.   As demand for the Quran grows in Southeast Asia, Nasyrul Quran is actively seeking translators for the Lao and Vietnamese languages. With the right expertise, these translations could soon bring the Quran to new communities longing for understanding.   After months of dedicated work, the Tagalog translation has been successfully completed. Now, copies are making their way across the Philippines, ensuring that more people can engage with the divine message in a language they truly understand.   The Nepalese translation is on the brink of completion, thanks to the collaboration between MyGuide Malaysia and Islami Sangh Nepal. To finalize this long-anticipated project, a follow-up meeting is scheduled at Yayasan Restu in Shah Alam on 29th November.  As the meeting wrapped up, one thing was clear, this is more than a project. It’s a movement. A commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind in accessing the words of the Quran.   Through collaboration, dedication, and faith, MyGuide Malaysia and Nasyrul Quran continue to break barriers, one translation at a time.   And this is just the beginning. 

The Opening of Al-Sanad School in Saitama, Japan Hj Nicholas Sylvester and Dr Salina Affandi, Chairman and Secretary of MyGuide Malaysia were recently invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Al Sanad School in Saitama Japan. Previously known as YUAI School, the establishment aims to provide a holistic learning environment designed to inspire, educate and empower students, cultivating a nurturing and supportive environment, fostering a love for learning and instilling strong moral values rooted in the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah. The Director of the school Mrs Yetti Dalimi, during her speech at the opening ceremony, related her challenges in getting the funds to buy the land and building for the new school and made a special mention of MyGuide for assisting to make the school a reality. The opening ceremony was attended by Shaykh As’ad Al Sanad himself and other dignitaries and contributors to the school.    After the opening ceremony, Hj Nicholas and Dr Salina also had the opportunity to attend the 17th International Annual Seminar entitled “Prophetic Teaching in the contemporary World” organised by Japan Muslim Peace Forum, University of Tokyo Islamic Culture Studies Society (TUICS) and IMAN Japan. 

Networking Trip to Singapore ! Our Asia Pacific Country Coordinators (APCC), Hj Ahmad Sodikin and Hafiz Bai, made a networking trip to Singapore on August 4, 2024. Discussions were held with local duat Brother Safarin and Brother Hairudin at Toa Payoh.  They also got the chance to converse with a new mualaf, Brother Heikal. Alhamdulillah, they had the last opportunity to meet with Almarhum Ustaz Jakfar, may Allah bless his soul.

Cakna Kemboja On July 26, 2024, Dr. Safwan Saparudin, one of our Asia Pacific Country Coordinators (APCC), embarked on a da’wah trip to Cambodia under the initiative “Cakna Kemboja.” The main goal of the trip was to engage with local duat to establish connections and understand the dynamics of da’wah in the region. From the engagements Dr Safwan learnt about the methods used by local duat and Islamic organisations to convey the message of Islam and gained insights into the da’wah practices prevalent in Cambodia. Alhamdulillah, Dr. Safwan and the local duat were able to have a good session on sharing of experiences and reached a  mutual understanding on establishing a collaborative partnership to achieve their shared goal of spreading the message of Islam. The mission began in Kampot, Cambodia, where Dr. Safwan Saparudin visited Steng Kav village as part of the Kafilah Dakwah project, organised by the Light of Knowledge & Charity Organization (LKCO). During this visit, young duat  from LKCO shared the message of Islam with the village community, many of whom were new to the faith. The session provided attendees with insights into fundamental Islamic topics, such as the purpose of life and humanity’s destiny. It also offered them the opportunity to ask questions that had been on their minds and seek answers about Islam. Alhamdulillah, by Allah’s will, a woman embraced Islam and returned to her natural faith. Before leaving Kampot, Dr. Safwan also visited Prey Thnang village. There, over 60 new reverts received prayer garments (telekung) sponsored by MyGuide Malaysia and our generous donors. The recipients were very happy to receive the gifts and expressed their joy and heartfelt gratitude. The growth of Islamic da’wah in Prey Thnang is promising, but there remains a significant need for financial support. This includes funding for religious teachers, a community centre, and ongoing assistance for both new reverts and the underprivileged. Over 200 families in the village continue to require guidance and support to embrace Islam fully and thrive in their new faith. Join us in supporting this noble da’wah effort. Syahadah in Nepal Hj. Nicholas Sylvester traveled to Nepal to visit the Islami Sangh Nepal office and meet with its president. During this visit, MyGuide Malaysia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Islami Sangh Nepal to collaborate on da’wah activities. Hj. Nicholas also had the privilege of witnessing the syahadah of six youth. May Allah be pleased with them and make them steadfast in their deen. Reports have indicated that Islam is now the fastest-growing religion in Nepal. Alhamdulillah ! Networking Expedition in India ! Although there are many reports of Hindu opposition to Islam in India, Hj. Nicholas’s recent visit has been eye-opening. We discovered that many Muslim organisations are actively engaged in sharing the beautiful message of Islam, in community developments and in nation building efforts despite the very challenging environment they are facing. Among these dedicated groups is the All India Muslim Development Council (AIMDC), which works to unite mosques across India through its One Masjid initiative. Another prominent organization is Jamaati Islami Hind, the largest Islamic organization in India. Established in 1941, this organization has a long history of da’wah work and has successfully guided many people to Islam over the decades. We are grateful to Allah for granting us the opportunity to build bonds of brotherhood with our brethren in India. May we all remain steadfast in continuing this da’wah effort.

It analyzes the roles and limitations of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and International Criminal Court (ICC), issues around immunity and enforcement, comparisons to other cases, and prospects for accountability despite political obstacles. View Recording   Key Points of the Session Introducing the International Court System Dr. Farid introduces key international courts like the ICJ, ICC, and tribunals, explaining they have jurisdiction over states and individuals for issues like trade disputes, war crimes, genocide and more. He outlines which entities qualify as subjects of international law. Jurisdiction and Membership of the ICJ The ICJ has 193 member states as parties. It has jurisdiction over civil disputes between states but not criminal matters. Israel and South Africa are members, Palestine is not. General Assembly admission requires Security Council approval which allies like the US could block for Palestine. South Africa’s Genocide Case Against Israel at ICJ South Africa filed a case alleging Israeli genocide against Palestinians under the Genocide Convention which 153 states signed. The ICJ can interpret treaty violations but not prosecute individuals. South Africa must prove genocidal intent by Israel as defined in the treaty. Challenges With Enforcement and Immunity ICJ rulings are binding but hard to enforce without Security Council backing. Especially as USA is one of the 13 Security Council members. Customary international law also grants immunity to heads of state and ministers complicating arrest warrants. Prior ICC warrants for Sudanese leader al-Bashir remain unenforced after 15 years. Role and Limitations of the International Criminal Court The ICC can prosecute individuals for war crimes, genocide and more. But it relies on state cooperation to arrest suspects and has no enforcement power. Case studies illustrate how leaders leverage allies to avoid arrest.
